A big part of my sessions last year were cake smash sessions or 1st birthday sessions. I absolutely adore this type of shoot, because no matter how long you’ve been doing this, this is the one type of session you seriously have no control over whatsoever, and it’s 100% baby-in-control-mode for me as a photographer. I thought I’d share some of my favorite behind-the-scenes shots from last year and funny enough – most of them are cake smash behind-the-scenes shots. Oh the fun we had. :) To schedule YOUR baby’s 1st birthday or cake smash session, email me at email@example.com and come visit us on facebook at www.facebook.com/angierayphotography to see my latest session sneak peeks! xo
I was so glad to have finally met Henry back in June. His mom and dad had initially planned for me to capture his birthday cake smash, but life got, as it so often does, in the way and we had to reschedule several times. I wonder if it was meant to be that way because can I just say how much I L.O.V.E.D. photographing him at this location and at this stage in his life (just a few months after his birthday, actually)? His mom wanted part of the session 4th of July-themed so we made it happen, and I seriously like how it all turned out.
He’s got the sweetest personality; the perfect mix of bouncy goofball and serious young man – we had a lot of fun that day, as I think you can tell from this selection of images. I get to see him again very soon, so I’m excited to see how his personality is developing! He sure is growing into a handsome little guy!
Katja is a fellow German friend of mine, who I already had the pleasure of doing maternity pictures during her first pregnancy for – naturally, I was excited to do it all over again this time around and big sister Lara was so much fun to have as part of the session. She seriously adored her mommy’s baby belly! We did a combination of indoor and outdoor shots at their home and I loved their idea of the “feet and shoes” picture!
Mason, another one of my milestone babies, has grown into such a personality – he’s so incredibly sweet and content and at the same time already has a real sense of humor. And a trooper he is, too! It was incredibly hot despite shooting quite early in the morning, but he had a blast. I loved that his parents took the opportunity and had me do a couple of shots of just the two of them as well – aren’t they gorgeous?
I first met Nyah when she was about 3 weeks old – I have a hard time believing time has flown by like that.. look at her! She’s grown into such a bubbly and sweet little toddler and I had the best time photographing her and her wonderful parents in honor of her big day. Nyah is One! Loved the outfits mom had picked out for her – it really accentuated Nyah’s sparkling personality and they all just looked fabulous together, wouldn’t you agree?
Aayla… love her name, love her family, love everything about this little girl. This was her third session with me and I cannot wait for the next one. She has such a super cute personality; so laid-back and sweet, and her gorgeous eyes and perfect skin give me baby fever every time I see her. We had a fun time at Marietta’s Life College and I’m in love with every single shot from this session. See you again soon, Miss A.!
Little man Brandon, isn’t he handsome? Quite a lot of planning went into this newborn session – mom Alyssa (who’s been a dear and regular client of mine for quite some time now; Brandon being her and her husband Matt’s second child) had such cute ideas and to make sure we’d achieve even the slightly more elaborate poses, I brought along a dear friend and client of mine, Miss Jaimie, who did a wonderful job spotting, supporting and comforting B. and was all in all just great to have along for the session. Wish she could come along on all of my sessions! Love you Brandon, can’t wait to see you again soon!
I am absolutely in love with every single shot from this outdoor session. Dylan is such a sweet little guy, so easy-going and content, and he has been that way for every single one of his milestone sessions (this is the 4th time he’s visited me). I love the simplicity of the field, the fact that we got to incorporate “his” basket again and of course the outfit his mom picked for him. That being said, I absolutely ADORE Dylan’s mom – so gorgeous and so stylish and such a beautiful person inside and out.
This was the third time I got to work with this beautiful family and I have to say, I just LOVE photographing them – those three boys are not only extremely handsome, they are also some of the best-behaved kids I’ve ever had the pleasure of photographing. So sweet and funny and easy to engage. A photographer’s dream!
