A big part of my sessions last year were cake smash sessions or 1st birthday sessions. I absolutely adore this type of shoot, because no matter how long you’ve been doing this, this is the one type of session you seriously have no control over whatsoever, and it’s 100% baby-in-control-mode for me as a photographer. I thought I’d share some of my favorite behind-the-scenes shots from last year and funny enough – most of them are cake smash behind-the-scenes shots. Oh the fun we had. :) To schedule YOUR baby’s 1st birthday or cake smash session, email me at email@example.com and come visit us on facebook at www.facebook.com/angierayphotography to see my latest session sneak peeks! xo
Little man Brandon, isn’t he handsome? Quite a lot of planning went into this newborn session – mom Alyssa (who’s been a dear and regular client of mine for quite some time now; Brandon being her and her husband Matt’s second child) had such cute ideas and to make sure we’d achieve even the slightly more elaborate poses, I brought along a dear friend and client of mine, Miss Jaimie, who did a wonderful job spotting, supporting and comforting B. and was all in all just great to have along for the session. Wish she could come along on all of my sessions! Love you Brandon, can’t wait to see you again soon!
Benjamin… what a content and happy little man he was for me. A rockstar sleeper, he even flashed me one of the most adorable smiles I’ve ever captured on a newborn. He is the essence of why I’m addicted to newborn photography; it’s so rewarding to know I get to be part of this very special time for a brand-new family.
I loved everything about this shoot. Baby Gray was nice and sleepy, and his parents had followed all of my tips and requests. Because of this we were very efficient and able to capture even the more challenging shots like Gray sleeping on the football held by daddy, something I had never done before.
During the session I got to meet Gray’s grandpa, who is a photo enthusiast as well and we chatted away about exposure times, lenses and all kinds of other photo geeky things, which made me a happy camper!
I couldn’t wait to meet baby Cora after her Mommy’s maternity session. Cora had a little bit of a hard time going and especially staying asleep so it took a little more patience than usual to get sleepy shots of her, but I do love the results. My favorites are the ones of her on yellow and the ones in the birds nest on the wood floor, she looks so angelic.
The hand shot was the parents’ idea and while we were waiting for her to relax for that one, I got a chance to watch her nurse, which mama allowed me to photograph and it’s quite possibly one of my most favorite pictures ever. So spontaneous and divinely lit by just the window light.
Baby Brooke is here! After her Mommy’s super sweet maternity session I couldn’t wait to meet Brooke, who is such a little sweetheart. I am very much looking forward to watching her grow as we do her milestone sessions every few months.
Handsome Mister Will, what a perfect little baby to photograph he was.. so sleepy and content, and even when he did wake up, he was all smiles and so serene – a photographer’s dream. I especially love that I got to use some of the family’s furniture and even Will’s four-legged big brother jumped into some of the shots! It doesn’t get much better than that.
Today we get to visit with a pair of very special brothers, twins Ethan and Elijah. Twins are such a miracle and I absolutely love photographing them. Not only are they super sweet and adorable, they are also a challenge (in a good way). Trying to keep both of them asleep or awake at the same time can be a difficult endeavor! Ethan and Elijah loved to take turns sleeping and waking for me, keeping me on my toes.
I’m a bit behind on blogging and I actually had the pleasure of catching up with these two recently for their 3-months session. I can’t wait to share with you how much they’ve grown.
