A big part of my sessions last year were cake smash sessions or 1st birthday sessions. I absolutely adore this type of shoot, because no matter how long you’ve been doing this, this is the one type of session you seriously have no control over whatsoever, and it’s 100% baby-in-control-mode for me as a photographer. I thought I’d share some of my favorite behind-the-scenes shots from last year and funny enough – most of them are cake smash behind-the-scenes shots. Oh the fun we had. :) To schedule YOUR baby’s 1st birthday or cake smash session, email me at email@example.com and come visit us on facebook at www.facebook.com/angierayphotography to see my latest session sneak peeks! xo
Ethan and Elijah are 3 months old already! These two boys have a very special place in my heart and I cannot tell you how excited I am about having the opportunity to follow them along on their first-year-journey. They have changed so much already since their newborn session, which was a first for me and so very special. Gorgeous boys, gorgeous family – I love my job!
I couldn’t wait to meet baby Cora after her Mommy’s maternity session. Cora had a little bit of a hard time going and especially staying asleep so it took a little more patience than usual to get sleepy shots of her, but I do love the results. My favorites are the ones of her on yellow and the ones in the birds nest on the wood floor, she looks so angelic.
The hand shot was the parents’ idea and while we were waiting for her to relax for that one, I got a chance to watch her nurse, which mama allowed me to photograph and it’s quite possibly one of my most favorite pictures ever. So spontaneous and divinely lit by just the window light.
I’ve had the pleasure of photographing the Torres Family a couple of times now and can I just say that they truly are not only one of the most beautiful families I’ve ever met, but also one of the sweetest. Mom Caitlin has a little accessory business, Harper & Zoe, which you can find here – love her stuff!
This session was so amazing – we (finally) had phenomenal weather (albeit a little windy) and both Littles were having fun with everything we were trying to do with them, including a little mock tea party.
I cannot believe it’s been two months since I last blogged a session! Well, I have work to do! Let’s start with Miller, sweet Miller, whose mommy was so awesome and such a trooper for this almost impromptu outdoor session in the middle of the worst Atlanta summer heat. I got eaten up by mosquitoes but Miller’s mom told me he was just fine, and I just adore the images we captured at Leita Thompson Memorial Park. Here a few favorites:
Outdoor newborn sessions are definitely new terrain for me but I absolutely LOVE it. There’s just something about a brandnew baby out in the midst of nature – it’s a very calming and zen experience, I think. Definitely something I’d like to do more, weather-permitting of course. Hope to see you again soon, Miller! xo
Oh Miss Emma, isn’t she the cutest? I’ve known this little beauty since she was a wee newborn – in fact, her newborn pictures were the first newborn pictures I’ve ever done! Time flies, that’s for sure. Here she is now, a gorgeous 5year old with an attitude so spunky and radiant, she can light up a room. As always, she kept me on my toes but rewarded me (and her mommy) with some crazy cute shots – here some of my faves:
Phew, being out of the country for a couple of days sure threw me out of the loop. I realized yesterday that I’ve completely forgotten to blog the beautiful H. family that I got to meet right before my impromptu trip to Germany. So without further ado, here they are!
Thanks for having me, Rebecca and David – can’t wait to see you and your two little angels again soon!!
If you haven’t yet, you should give the following recipe a shot some time:
You take 6 kids, age range baby to tweener, add a pinch of nap-lessness, a dash of summer heat and a good dose of 150 miles of road trip to the mix and what you get is a whole lot of fun and a jam-packed late afternoon. :)
We split this up into three mini sessions and finished up just in time for me to take a shot of the sunset as I pulled into our subdivison. Wowza, what an adventure! Here the sneaks:
Hope I’ll see you again soon, guys! It was so much fun and I’m glad you were able to make the trip!
The first things you’ll notice about this little darling will probably be her incredibly blue eyes – I know it was the first thing that struck me when I looked at these images after uploading them. I kid you not, I had to tone down the processing because of the blue-ness because I was afraid if I didn’t they’d look digitally enhanced or artificially colored or something! They really are THAT blue! Amazing!
Caroline is actually my sister-in-laws younger daughter and I was so thrilled to be able to do her pictures since we really don’t get to see them that often (they live up in Virginia and we’re down here in Georgia..). We had planned on doing a lot of outdoor stuff but, as so often, the weather had different ideas so we ended up doing 95% of the shoot inside, utilizing the light coming in through our big glass door in the breakfast area which worked great!
Hope I’ll see you again soon, Caroline! (Oh and the rest of your side of the family, too, of course LOL) Enjoy your pictures! <3
Meet: James. I recently awarded him with the “Cutest Kid Ever” award on my facebook (well, no, not really, but I should, and he’d totally deserve it, too!) and forced his mom to grant me eternal rights to take his picture because I so love his little face. He is one of the happiest little boys I’ve ever met and his smile, I swear, can light up an entire room, bah, what am I saying, the entire county!
Long story short, after a couple of complications on all sides I finally got a chance to take his 1st-year pictures and we went to a tiny little area here in my neighborhood to do that.
It was late afternoon and just as I had hoped the light was absolutely fantastic – warm and golden and beautiful, just like our little birthday boy.
Take a look at some of the shots we got, isn’t he the most handsomest (is that a word?) mini-man ever? I know, right? Oh and James, it’s ok to slow down the growing-up now, it’s been too fast a year already. Promise us you’ll stay just like this for a little while longer!
