A big part of my sessions last year were cake smash sessions or 1st birthday sessions. I absolutely adore this type of shoot, because no matter how long you’ve been doing this, this is the one type of session you seriously have no control over whatsoever, and it’s 100% baby-in-control-mode for me as a photographer. I thought I’d share some of my favorite behind-the-scenes shots from last year and funny enough – most of them are cake smash behind-the-scenes shots. Oh the fun we had. :) To schedule YOUR baby’s 1st birthday or cake smash session, email me at firstname.lastname@example.org and come visit us on facebook at www.facebook.com/angierayphotography to see my latest session sneak peeks! xo
This was a very special session as Amber is no other than the owner of Enchanted Shimmer Designs (formerly Sleepy Shimmer) and simply a wonderful person all around. She even brought me a present to our session – one of her gorgeous newborn girl accessories – I was over the moon. I had a lot of fun with this sweet family and hope to get to photograph them again this Fall. Thanks for coming all the way up to Marietta, Robinson Family!
Such a beautiful day it was when we headed out to do Jessica’s maternity pictures. The cherry trees were in full bloom so I just had to take advantage of that – doesn’t she look stunning?
These two are such a sweet couple. I was very excited when I learned that I’d also have the pleasure of photographing their little girl once she had made her arrival. I can’t wait to meet Baby Cora!
Mr Dylan’s was another one of my outdoor newborn sessions of 2012. He did so fantastic in the sweltering Georgia heat, I almost want to say he was more comfortable outside than inside! Nevertheless we had a wonderful time and the fact that not only have I seen him back since then for his 3-months session – this weekend will be his 6-months session, which makes me happy and sad at the same time. Happy because I get to see his sweet little face again and sad because that means we’re already halfway through his one-year baby plan.. Time flies, let me tell you. Here a few favorites from his very first session with me, at just eight days old.
Can’t wait to see you again this weekend, little man! xo
This gorgeous family came to visit me in August last year (yes, I am that far behind on my blogging and so not happy about it!) and while their little guy wasn’t necessarily in love with the idea of having his picture taken, we still got some wonderful shots down at one of my favorite local parks. I absolutely loved their outfits, and looking at these colors now on this cold and gray January day, it makes me miss summer even more. Simply beautiful. Here are some of my favorites:
I cannot believe it’s been two months since I last blogged a session! Well, I have work to do! Let’s start with Miller, sweet Miller, whose mommy was so awesome and such a trooper for this almost impromptu outdoor session in the middle of the worst Atlanta summer heat. I got eaten up by mosquitoes but Miller’s mom told me he was just fine, and I just adore the images we captured at Leita Thompson Memorial Park. Here a few favorites:
Outdoor newborn sessions are definitely new terrain for me but I absolutely LOVE it. There’s just something about a brandnew baby out in the midst of nature – it’s a very calming and zen experience, I think. Definitely something I’d like to do more, weather-permitting of course. Hope to see you again soon, Miller! xo
Oh Miss Emma, isn’t she the cutest? I’ve known this little beauty since she was a wee newborn – in fact, her newborn pictures were the first newborn pictures I’ve ever done! Time flies, that’s for sure. Here she is now, a gorgeous 5year old with an attitude so spunky and radiant, she can light up a room. As always, she kept me on my toes but rewarded me (and her mommy) with some crazy cute shots – here some of my faves:
I cannot believe how badly I’ve been neglecting my beloved blog! I had planned on keeping it going and updated through my baby break but I admit my heart wasn’t in it in the end and I decided to just wait until after baby Eliot was born before posting.
So here I am, and I’ve got TONS to catch up on. First off, can you say G.O.R.G.E.O.U.S.? Momma-to-be Courtney and husband T.K. came to see me out at Leita Thompson Memorial Garden back in March. We had a lot of fun and I can’t help but wonder what people were thinking that saw us (me, the already very pregnant lady and Courtney, also visibly pregnant) :D
Anyway, here some of my many many favorite shots from this wonderful and fun maternity session:
I bet you can tell I am incredibly excited about baby Israel’s arrival, which is pretty much going to happen any day now! Can’t wait to see you guys again, Courtney and T.K., and meet your little man!
Meet Miss A., who is a fellow German and friend of mine (and probably one of the smartest ones I have, mind you!). Barely out of her mid-20′s and soon-to-be a J.D., how awesome is that?! Anyway, long story short, I was beyond thrilled when Astrid won my free-session give away last month, in honor of reaching 500 Likers on my facebook (woohoo!!). We decided on Centennial Park downtown Atlanta as the venue for our shoot and that added an additional element of excitement to the whole thing, since I had never done a session downtown before.. I have to say, I loved it! The weather was fantastic, and despite the rustle and bustle Atlanta presents her visitors on any given Saturday with, we actually got to enjoy a fairly quiet Centennial Park, which of course helped finding us some gorgeous light (or better, shade) where and when we needed it. Here are some of the highlights from this shoot:
Thanks so much for coming out, Astrid! And next time I WILL bring my bathing suit and dive into that water fall, you just wait and see! ;)
The Enyarts are a family I’ve known for quite some time now and in the winter of 2010 I had the pleasure of photographing them for the first time, which, despite rather unpleasant temperatures, was a whole lot of fun! Jessica and Andrew have been married for 10 years, believe it or not, and when I first heard them talk about a vow renewal ceremony, I secretly hoped they’d ask me to come do the pictures for them. You can imagine my excitement when that was exactly what happened! :)
I didn’t know much about the location (Jessica’s mom’s house) but Jess told me it was beautiful and wonderfully shaded (a sigh of relief on my part!) and I could do whatever I wanted on the grounds – so I brought my freshly rented Nikon 24-70mm 2.8 (LOVE it!), a couple of bottles of water (it was in the mid-nineties all week) and an open mind (since I usually don’t do events like this and felt a little out of practice) and boy was I in for a treat! The location: Gorgeous! The bride: Beyond beautiful! The family: SO amazingly supportive and YES! The weather was on our side as well! It doesn’t get much better than this, let me tell ya.
So here are some of the shots we got that day – I seriously am not lying when I say I am in love with every single one of them. What a wonderful day and experience for me as a photographer and friend. Thanks for having me, guys! xo
